Scouting From The Heart Blood & Food Drive

Show your support for Scouting and the Denver area community by participating in the Greater Colorado Council’s Scouting from the Heart Blood & Food Drive

When: Tuesday, June 23, 2020 
Time: 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. 
Where: Hamilton Scout Headquarters – 10455 W. 6th Ave., Suite 100, Denver, CO 80215 
How: Directional signage for food donations and parking for blood donations will be posted on-site. Registration details for blood donations are below.

Blood Drive

  • The GCC will partner with Vitalant for blood donations at Hamilton Scout HQ.
  • Please schedule an appointment for your donation by visiting Donors.Vitalant.org and use code A778 or call 303.363.2300.
  • Donors are encouraged to complete their health history questionnaire online the day of their donation before arriving at the blood drive. More information is located at Vitalant.org.
  • Please bring a photo ID that includes your legal name.
  • The GCC will adhere to all social distancing guidelines and all donors must wear a mask when they enter the building. All volunteers will wear a mask.
  • Please enter the Council at the main entrance on W 6th All will exit on the east side of the building by the Scout Shop.
  • Prescreening will include temperature checks and COVID-related questions.
  • Draws will take place in the Anschutz Conference Center. Pre-screening will take place in the Magness Room. Blood Draws will take place in the Dietler Room. The Canteen and Recovery are will be in the Dobbins Room.
  • Vitalant will use required social distancing health and safety measures between all donors.

food Drive

  • We need a few Scouts BSA, Venturers and/or adult volunteers for two hour shifts for the food drive. If interested, please contact John Beattie at 720.448.6313 or jvbeatt@q.com.
  • The GCC will partner with Food Bank of the Rockies to collect non-perishable food items that will be delivered to Metro Ministries. Metro Ministries delivers food to more than 2,000 families in the Denver area.
  • Enter the parking lot just off W. 6th and Miller Court. Signs will direct you around to the north side of the building where Scouts and volunteers will collect food.
  • All Scouts and volunteers will wear masks when collecting and sorting food.
