Thank you for supporting the Boy Scouts of America and supporting Denver area youth. Charter Renewal is an annual process to re-establish and re-affirm relationships with the Boy Scouts of America (BSA). Remember: All Units in Greater Colorado Council expire December 31, 2022.
Units should plan to complete charter renewal via the National Internet Charter Renewal System by December 19, 2022. On-time charter renewal of your unit is important. Instructions provided below will assist in the charter renewal process. Again, this year the entire process can be completed online.
Access to the site is tied to your my.scouting.org username and password. Any member of your unit’s Key 3, as well as a Key 3 Delegate, can access and complete the charter renewal process, though the final approval must come from the Charter Organization Representative.
You can find additional information and videos on charter renewal on the National BSA Recharter Resources Website
Still need assistance? Have questions, or have you Contact your Unit Commissioner, District Commissioner, or District Executive.
Youth Protection Training (YPT) is required for each adult on the unit charter, and all adults registered in Scouting in the Greater Colorado Council must maintain current Youth Protection Training certification. Youth Protection Training is valid for a period of two years and many leaders will see their certification expire this year. Be sure all adults have current YPT certification before you start charter renewal. In addition, every new Adult Application must include a Youth Protection Training certificate.
You will not be able to complete your charter renewal if any registered adult has expired YPT certification. Training can be completed online through my.scouting.org.
The Boy Scouts of America (BSA) is committed first and foremost to keeping youth safe. Part of that commitment includes continually updating our youth protection policies to help ensure we are always on the forefront of youth safety. All newly registered adults must provide a signed “Additional Disclosures & Background Check Authorization” form to have on file at Greater Colorado Council. Please provide a copy of the Authorization for every new adult leader when you submit your Charter Renewal Paperwork
We are truly grateful for your continued commitment to keeping youth safe and for helping them learn, grow, and thrive through Scouting programs.
Scouting’s Journey to Excellence (JTE) is the BSA’s planning, performance, and recognition program designed to encourage and reward the success of units, districts and councils. It is meant to encourage excellence in providing a quality program at all levels of the BSA. Greater Colorado Council (GCC) requests all units participate in and submit a yearly JTE status form.
We ask that Units complete and submit a JTE form to their Unit Commissioner and/or District Commissioner by the end of December. Units can use these JTE tracking workbooks.
Units should also review the 2022 Scorecard to see how they can strive to meet performance objectives.
