Membership Renewal Changes Coming to Scouting Colorado
Beginning in September 2026, Scouting America will begin transitioning unit renewals to a February renewal cycle. Starting in 2027, youth and adult member renewals will also transition to February.
This change will create a more consistent annual renewal season, help strengthen retention, and better align renewals with the time of year when many families join Scouting. Most importantly, it gives unit leaders greater control over the renewal process.
During the transition, members renewing before the February cycle will pay $8.50 for each month of renewal coverage. For example, a member renewing at the end of October and renewing through February would pay $136 for the four-month transition period.
The updated renewal structure will also lower the initial cost to join, eliminate the two-month lapse period, and align safeguarding training requirements with renewal dates.
Together, these changes are designed to support stronger membership and improved retention across Scouting Colorado.
