What is Scouting
Scouting is a fun, adventure-filled program for boys and girls ages 5–20 that builds confidence, leadership, and life skills. Scouts make friends, try new things, and grow through hands-on experiences, all while being Prepared. For Life.
Scouting offers five age-based programs, each designed to match your kids’ interests and abilities as they grow. From their first meeting to their biggest adventure, Scouts learn, lead, and have fun every step of the way. Click on the program description below to learn more about each program:

Scouting is Safe
Scouting America has strengthened its training, policies, and procedures to ensure every youth has a safe and positive experience. All adult leaders are required to undergo an annual background check and complete Safeguarding Youth Training every year—a 90-minute course focused on best practices for protecting youth in all settings. In addition, Scouting is introducing age-appropriate training for youth participants themselves, empowering them to recognize unsafe situations and stay safe—whether online, at activities, or in everyday life.

How Do I Join Scouting?
To join Scouting, it is as easy as finding a Scout unit near your home or school! Scouting is for boys and girls, in all of our programs! You can use the tool at www.beascout.org to select your age group, find a unit near you, and reach out to the leaders of that unit about joining! They will have you complete an application and submit it, and then you can Start Scouting!
