Frontier District

The Greater Colorado Council – Frontier District serves the Denver County and Denver Public Schools and is home to some of the best Scout Troops in Colorado.

District Meetings

District Meetings will be held in person if possible. Monthly invitations go to the unit leadership. Contact your unit leaders (cubmaster, scoutmaster, advisor, or committee chair) for an invitation to the meeting.

  • Frontier District Roundtables are held on the first Thursday of the month at 7 p.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church, 4500 E. Hampden. The district Roundtable is open to all unit leaders and adults looking for resources to bring back to their unit.

  • Frontier District Committee Meetings are held on the second Thursday of the month at 7pm  via zoom. The district committee is composed of community resources to support units. Leaders from the district ensure that Frontier provides key resources and important programs for Scouts and leaders. Chartering Organization Representatives are automatically members of the District Committee and are encouraged to attend monthly committee meetings. All other members of the committee are elected yearly.

  • Frontier District Commissioner Staff Meetings Commissioner meetings are the second Thursday of every month at 7 p.m., via zoom. The Mission of the Frontier District Commissioner Staff is to facilitate discussion and provide resources to units. This group of experts operate as unit development consultants. They are charged with contacting unit leadership on a monthly basis just to see how things are going. Unit leaders should get to know their commissioner and seek their advice.

NEW!  District 5 Star Units

5 Star Units are eligible for Free Rank

The official Greater Colorado Council recognition program is for Units that operate effectively and provide a quality program for their members throughout the year. Every unit that earns the Five Star Rating will receive free badges of rank for all its unit members. To receive the Five-Star Rating a unit must complete 5 steps in a row. If you happen to miss a step, you can immediately start qualifying again with the next one.

These are the 5 steps to be completed:

1. Hold a Family Investment in Character presentation by April 30th of the current year.

2. *Participate in a Summer Resident Camp, High Adventure Program, Cub Scout Day/Resident Camp, Colorado Adventure Point, or Summer Camp by July 31st of the current year. (Note: Troops & Crews must attend a GCC camp this year or commit to the next year – supporting your local council camps at least every other year).

3. Submit a Unit Program Calendar and Fall Recruitment Plan before July 31st, of the current year. (The calendar for the upcoming Scouting year: August to July).

4. *Participate in a Denver Area Council Fundraiser by October 31st, of the current year.

5. Complete the entire online Charter Renewal process before December 31st of the current year. Once you’ve completed Recharter on time your unit is eligible for free badges of rank. (The Recharter must be submitted, approved, and paid for in full).

Note: All units that completed the 2023 Rechartering process before December 31st, 2022, are currently considered Five Star Units for 2022 and qualify for free rank advancements. To keep the 5 Star Unit Status, they must continue to complete the steps listed above. All other units must start completing steps to qualify for 2023.

*Please discuss options and flexibility with your unit commissioner or district executive.
