McNeil Scout Ranch at peaceful valley

With more than 3,300 acres of land, there are endless possible adventures available for Scouts of all ages at McNeil  Scout Ranch at Peaceful Valley. This regional camp includes a swimming pool, two lakes, Olympic shotgun shooting range (along with world-class rifle and archery ranges), one of Colorado’s premier mountain biking courses, natural rocking climbing areas, trading post, dining hall, two themed outpost camps, and that barely scratches the surface! Additionally, it’s near Colorado Springs and surrounding areas where campers go white water rafting, hike a 14er, or explore caves. Three nationally accredited camps make up MSR, which is located at 7,000 feet in elevation near the town of Elbert, Colorado.

Current Council Programs

A summer camp for Cub Scout families to get the full experience of Scouting over a 4-day/ 3-night period. 

A great opportunity for new Cub Scout Families to experience the essence of Scouting over a weekend. 

 

A summer camp for Scouts BSA Troops to earn merit badges & participate in new adventures over a 6-day/ 5-night period. 

National Youth Leadership Training is a great opportunity for youth to gain valuable leadership skills that can be used not only in their unit but in their everyday life.

BSA Unit Camping

McNeil Scout Ranch at Peaceful Valley is a private camp owned and operated by Scouting Colorado. Advance reservations must be placed prior to arriving at camp. All program activities must be supported at the unit level.

All members must abide by Scouting America guidelines at all times including but not limited to Youth Protection Training & the Guide to Safe Scouting.

Reservations at camp are based on first-come first-serve availability. Depending on the amount of attendees & amenities being requested – camp maybe shared with other groups unless specifically requested. Once you have gathered all the necessary information you can look at online reservation calendar to see what is available. 

  1. Select one Facility at a time. You can add more than one facility to your overall reservation before going to check-out.
    1. Dining Hall or Day Only Activities:
      • Select the Day you are would be using it.
    2. Campsites & Lodges:
      • Select the date you would be arriving
      • Select the date you would be leaving

Once you have confirmed your dates are available – complete the online reservation process & make your payment. 

  1. Select the estimated number of youth & adults attending.
    • This number can be altered 72-hours prior to your arrival. Any changes made after the 72-hour deadline will be adjusted and invoiced the following week.
  2. Make payment in full to confirm reservation. Any changes made to the reservation will be invoiced accordingly. Refund and cancellation policies are located at the bottom of each invoice issued.

Non-Scouting Groups

McNeil Scout Ranch at Peaceful Valley is a private camp owned and operated by Greater Colorado Council, Boy Scouts of America. Advance reservations must be placed prior to arriving at camp. All reservations are subject to availability.

Reservations at camp are based on first-come first-serve availability. Non-Scouting Groups are considered to be schools and organizations that can provide a Certificate of Liability. We are not able to accommodate family groups. Depending on the amount of attendees & amenities being requested – camp maybe shared with other groups unless specifically requested. Please make sure that you have the information below to help better speed the reservation process.

Camps on Property

McNeil Scout Ranch Staff, Alumni & Volunteer Service Core

The Peaceful Valley Alumni Association (PVAA) is a group  of veteran Scouters and former Camp Staffers dedicated to the preservation, maintenance, and program support at Charles S. McNeil Peaceful Valley Scout Ranch. Three nationally accredited camps make up MSR, which is located at 7,000 feet in elevation near the town of Elbert, Colorado. The Volunteer Service Core (VSC) is a new initiative to help assist the Scouting movement for the Greater Colorado Council. The VSC is comprised of subgroups that focus on specific industries such as carpentry, concrete work, heavy machine operations, and much more. The MSR Service Days are dedicated orientations/trainings held at McNeil Scout Ranch to make improvements for summer camp and year-round operations.

Working on camp staff is a great opportunity to make your summer full of adventure! Spend your days taking Scouts on hikes, teaching them how to shoot a gun, or relaxing with them in the evenings as you all sit around a campfire telling stories and watching skits.
