Founded in 1910 on the principles of making a difference through civic service, Scouting provides quality youth programs that build good character and leadership skills while building better communities. The Greater Colorado Council (GCC), Boy Scouts of America, was established in 1913 and settled into its current location in Lakewood, Colorado, in 2009. Through the years the mission has remained the same, to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law. As our community continues to grow and diversify, we remain committed to growing all youth into future leaders.
Scouting builds character and community through a variety of programs and activities including camping, canoeing, hiking, mountain biking, community service projects, and more. These activities instill a sense of confidence, preparedness, and honor in our youth.

Our Customer Service hours have also extended, with customer service being available from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday. Customer Service will be available by Appointment Only from 5:00 – 6:00 pm Monday through Friday and 9:00 – 12:00 pm on Saturdays. On Saturdays, please enter through the Scout Shop.

On May 1, 2019, the Western Colorado Council headquartered in Grand Junction, Colorado, merged with the GCC. The merger allows youth and adults on the Western Slope to continue their participation in the Boy Scouts of America programs by providing financial stability and enhanced resources.
Serving the Denver Metro and Western Slope service areas, the GCC offers programs in the following counties: Adams, Arapahoe, Broomfield, Clear Creek, Delta, Denver, Douglas, Eagle, Elbert, Garfield, Gilpin, Grand, Gunnison, Hinsdale, Jefferson, Mesa, Moffat, Ouray, Park, Pitkin, Rio Blanco, Routt, San Miguel, and Summit.
The GCC takes great pride in our camping programs and facilities. McNeil Scout Ranch at Peaceful Valley (MSR) encompasses more than 3,500 acres and is in Elbert, Colorado. PV is 65 miles southeast of Denver and home to Camp Cris Dobbins, and Cub Scout Adventure Camp.
