International Scouting

Scouting is the largest youth organization on the planet, with more than 50 million Scouts and Scouters in more than 170 countries.  The  Boy Scouts of America is a member of the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM), along with 170 other National Scout Organizations.  WOSM sponsors three global Scout events that provide Scouts with a unique, life-changing Scouting experience. World Scout Jamboree

The Next World Scout Jamboree will be in Saemangeum, South Korea from August 1 to August 12, 2023.  While registration is not yet open, it is a great time for Scouts age 14 – 17 at the time of the event to start planning and saving money.   When information is available, the Council will post registration information on this page.  For more information, go to http://www.2023wsjkorea.org/

The 24th World Scout Jamboree was held in the United States at the Summit Bechtel Scout Reserve in West Virginia in 2019. 

World Scout Moot

The 16th World Scout Moot will be  held in Ireland in 2022.  The Moot is an international Scouting event for young adults age 18 – 25 years old.  Ireland expects to host more than 6,000 young adults from every WOSM member organization.  More information about the moot can be found here:  https://www.worldscoutmoot.ie

JOTA – JOTI Jamboree

The “Jamboree on the Air – Jamboree on the Internet”, or JOTA-JOTI is the largest global Scouting event, attracting thousands of Scouts of all ages to connect on the internet or short wave radio.  Recent JOTA-JOTI events have included live broadcasts from Kandersteg, Switzerland, Scout-led talent shows, and training for adults.  Typically held the third weekend of October each year, the program is free and a lot of fun.  Details here: https://www.jotajoti.info 

Scouting Magazine encourages every unit to hold a World Scout Night Program, conduct a Messengers of Peace service project and participate in JOTA/JOTI.  More information here.

Kandersteg International Scout Centre, Switzerland

Known as the “Permanent Mini-Jamboree”, this beautiful camp in the Swiss Alps provides high adventure experiences along with an opportunity to meet Scouts from around the world.  Founded by Lord Baden-Powell, the camp offers a wide range of hiking, climbing and other adventures as well as time for campfires, meals and fun with other international Scouts.  Considering taking your unit to Kandersteg next summer. The Boy Scouts of America offers a number of programs and resources for Scouts, Scouters and Units who are interested in International Scouting, including opportunities to serve on camp staff in Europe, training programs at Philmont, and support for international trips.  For more information, visit https://www.scouting.org/international/
