Adventure Instructors are an integral part of the Colorado Adventure Point team and are responsible for delivering high quality educational programs to youth and adults in a variety of topics. Adventure Instructors work individually or in small teams to set up program areas, teach skills, maintain a safe and fun learning environment, and make sure CAP remains the top adventure education provider in Colorado.

This position can include teaching STEM, archery, rock climbing, rifle and pistol shooting, leather working, welding, art projects, sustainability, outdoor skills, first aid, basic robotic programming, and many other adventure and academic skills. You will receive paid training in each program area you are assigned to lead. Additionally, if you have a program you would like to add, CAP is extremely open and encouraging of creating new programs!

Responsibilities:

  •         Clear communication with directors
  •         Deliver quality program that meets CAP methods and standards
  •         Ensure the safety of all participants
  •         Take down Adventure Zone after event
  •         Maintain positive relationships and provide excellent customer service

Qualifications: Qualified candidates have a strong belief in, and understanding of, hands-on, experiential teaching methodology. Experience teaching at summer camps, schools, or other youth education programs is a huge bonus. Basic knowledge of rock climbing, camp crafts, STEM, and/or shooting sports are a plus. Must be capable of independent and small-team work. Flexibility, adaptability, enthusiasm, high energy, and general awesomeness required.

While not a requirement, priority will be given to those candidates that meet the following criteria:

  •         College education in a related field, OR related work experience 
  •         Experience teaching youth
  •         Dedication to improving the world through education of youth
  •         Experience in a Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Venturing, Exploring, AHG, etc. a plus
  •         Maintain positive and professional relationships with staff and participant families
